I'm getting ready to install some original chrome side mirrors on my 914 and I seem to remember someone posting they had found a source for new SS screws that worked in a thread about a year ago but can't find it. I'm looking for 4 of the screws.
Thanks,
Don

I believe they are 6mm x 12mm oval head phillips but I found and used 6x12 flat head phillips at homeboy depot

They are the same size as striker screws but are stainless and have the nylon plug in the threads. I have some if I can find them.

Thanks Mike, I thought I remember seeing billh in the old thread.

I'd love to find some that are longer. The weld-nuts in my door are in pretty bad shape, and I would like to use a longer screw and thread a nut onto the end to make sure they don't let go...

I sell them in zinc and stainless steel.
Dave, that could be possible.

I used some Helicoils on mine when they started to show their age, and they've held up great. A dab of LockTite on the screw will hold them in as well as the insert on the originals.

This is only going to matter if you're an extreme stickler for authenticity, but the screws are not exactly the same.
Original screw is on the right

Go to an Ace Hardware with a large fastener inventory.
They will have them in metric SS.
I selected mine with an allen head instead of phillips.
