it seems to be a nice car, though it will need a little work and there are some non-original details I don't like very much:

914 LE Bumblebee

Uuuugh. IPB Image Get rid of that steering wheel, shift knob and for god's sake those idiotic Harley floor mats. IPB Image

You are worried about those "non-original details" when you've got this going on in the engine compartment.

IPB Image Everything was fine till I saw that. It has now become a regular 914 with a LE paint job.

Whatta bunch of weenies......just replace the d-jet, interior items and you have a REAL LE......uhhhhhh......of course you have to care............. IPB Image

IPB Image ....it's just a bunch of small bolt on items...I don't see any reason to freak out about it IPB Image IPB Image

Just "those little details" will set you back some serious coin. Then you will end up dropping the motor just to get it cleaned up.
So once you get the motor out you start thinking Hmm I should rebuild it.
Then you look up at the body from underneath and realize you need to buy a welder
Pretty soon you got the car up on jackstands and are hooked on this site for a life support device.

No thanks I got enough to do.

the motor could be just as dirty with the original FI IPB Image

$500 max to put it back to stock.....should take about 3 hours.....smoke'n deal depending on what the car sells for......besides, you buy this car cause you like it, not for an investment or to turn it into a show car

I like the color. Yeah, get rid of the shift knob and floor mats. The steering wheel I could go either way but I personally think that type of wheel would look more at home in an Italian car.

What REALLY gets my goat are the pictures. Or should I say, the same repitious pictures of nothing different! Just because one has taken a bunch of pictures does NOT mean one must use ALL of them IPB Image

3/4 views are perfect, straight on views are very nice if image space is available. It didn't look like it was raining outside so pull that bitch out into some true light and include pictures of the driver's side IPB Image IPB Image IPB Image

IPB Image This was listed as a feature on the car.

Sheesh, there must be even more that I don't know about LE's than I thought.

In actuality, he is correct (in a matter of speaking), as the oil is not only a lubricant, but a coolant as well.......techinically speaking IPB Image

Ah, that's a relief. I thought maybe those red hoses were part of some top secret super special LE radiator system. IPB Image IPB Image IPB Image

Hey, that "BugPack" breather is worth at least $29.95, excluding the hoses of course IPB Image

Slits, what about the hose clamps (probably stock/ original)? IPB Image

You guys are being a great help. I'm trying to determine how much money I could recoup by selling off the non-original parts to help fund the restoration. Here's what I have so far:

BugPack Breather - $29.95 (Is that retail or what this one is worth used?)

Used Nardi Steering Wheel ~ $100

Now, I just need to determine the value of:

Used Nardi Shift Knob

Used Monza Exhaust

Used Single Carb

Used Harley Davidson Floor Mats

Damn, it looks like this thing could pay for itself.

$3.00 for the mats (seller pays shipping). I'll flip um' upside down for the floor in front of my workbench. IPB Image IPB Image

I know this car! It was on ebay about 6 months ago. Then it was being sold by an ebay “flipper”. He bought it from an older PCA owner in Tennessee. This guy (who was a member of this forum) beat me out in a second ebay auction. He paid around $10000, for this. The first auction didn’t meet the flipper’s reserve of over $12000. More importantly than me knowing this car, Jeff Bowsby and Roy Galan (aka Rouser) know this car. Roy did a presale inspection for me, found rust in the trunk and I think in the engine compartment. Definitely needed a paint job and fuel injector system. Jeff and Roy talked me down from the ledge (of buying this) and 3 months later I found my 73 2.0 low mile, unmolested Orange. Sure am glad things turned out the way they did. I guess with 6 months of ownership, the owner found that the rust was worse than expected. None of the interior “enhancements” were there 6 months ago, I guess that’s the Cajun touch!

Yep, that's the car from last spring / summer time on Ebay. It is the car that got me interested in picking up a 914 again. I really liked that car. Couldn't sell the car I wanted to sell in time to buy it, but I did download all of the pictures of it from the auction. That engine picture is the same one as in the auction, down to the blue plug wires.

I liked it better when it was more original. I'm glad he still has the original steering wheel.
