They claim they were invited to crash our event. One of us?

Wasn't me but if they aren't eating the food or getting t-shirts, whats the problem?

The implication that it's their event. That's the impression they give...

On their website, it just shows the event and links to 914world for more info.
Doesn't bother me

In the drifter, they've invited themselves.

I can't think of anyone out of the site I have invited. I don't see any reason to exclude them. It would be cool to get more people. Even if it's just for a day or so. I'm certainly not going to look down my nose if some tail draggers show

In the past, we have discouraged our own members from just dropping by. This is about 450 locals. I have a problem with that. We have 20 some 914's registered. They can quickly, and without registering or paying make it a not 914 event by overwhelming it with taildraggers. This is our event. If they're not members here and they're not registered, they're not welcome. You'll have to trust me on this, I've seen them take over events before. Remember my Porsche Family Reunion?, it's now called the Monthly Saturday Breakfast and it's a PCA event. They 'liked' my idea...

I guess I always thought the money was for the t-shirt, awards dinner and swag. We can control those parts of the event. I'm not sure how we can stop them from going on the drive if they really want to anyways.

I spoke with their board tonight. They understand that if they come they must register.

I can see how an overwhelming amount of taildraggers coming could be an issue. Guess I wasn't thinking of it in such large numbers. Yes this is our 914 event. I do think it could be cool to have them be a part of it. Maybe just give them an option of coming on one of the drive's? I definitely want our 914 event to stay true to our teeners for the most part. I think we can have that but still have something where we get to see some fellow Porsche owners too. Hell I'm just glad it is coming soon

It's not that I have a problem with taildraggers or SNR. I do think their president is a world class bitch (no, I know she is, half the board quit in her first two months). We are not a real entity. We have no insurance. I am leading a drive/tour. One of the 911's or whatever goes off a cliff trying to keep up with the 914's and I'll spend the next 10 years fighting a lawsuit because I was leading the tour.
If I am going to have that kind of exposure to liability, SNR members can join 914World and register like anyone else. At least they can support the event.
If none of the organizers invited them, I am fairly sure it was Doug Driver, a 914World lurker and local here in Reno. Certainly for well-intentioned reasons and I can appreciate that. But, we traditionally discouraged even our own member from just dropping in. Suggesting instead that they register and pay. This is potentially a whole lot more than just a 914world member dropping by and seeing the show-and-shine.

Just tell them to check with Elliott on when they should arrive

Fairly certain it was Doug Driver. He is a lurker here and a 914 -6 race car owner who lives in Reno. I'm sure he was well intentioned, but didn't realize what he was doing.
It's handled.
