Has anyone drained a 911 tank to replace the strainer?
How did you drain it?

Run the fuel pump and pump the gas into a gas can?

seems simple enough, but no one explains where to apply the mystery jumper....
I know I could hotwire it, and I may just do that to make life easier....

Pull it out and turn it over in the yard.

What year?
Or go get a $25 fuel pump and a length of hose and go down the filler pipe.

we have a siphon hose, going to do what we can to get most of it.
The last bit will just be a "man up" exercise with the doors and windows open, some funnels and cans to catch what we can.
Even then, the strainer is at the very bottom of the tank.
No matter what, when I pull that out, there will be more fuel there...

That is when you light a match to see how much is left. Shortly afterward there will be zero gas left I there.

Siphon it out.
Don't tell us that you never did that as a kid when you couldn't afford to buy gas for your first car.

Who needed to siphon? A tank of gas for my first car was under 3 bucks, and I got 25MPG ............................... Sometimes it was under 2 bucks, if there was a gas war going on.

What are you up to now?
Fuel pump strainer is old, clogged and making the fuel pump hot and f-in loud..
So, replacing the strainer...
It's like the sock in a 914, just costs a lot more.

So, still alive and did not blow up....
Pulled the strainer and while there was nothing obvious, when held up to the light the bottom section was clearly coated with a film....possibly lacquer like stuff....
Gotta love the new fuel we are using....
Seems like this is an annual filter to change every spring now....
