Where exactly on the engine does it mount?

The console on the oil tank. The 6 is a dry sump engine

The Factory oil COOLER on a 914-6 is mounted to the engine on the drivers side rear of the engine.Toward the back of the car. Here is a picture of a 914-6 oil cooler on an early 911 engine.. Same mounting spot on both engines.
For a 2.5 Twin-Plug, you may want to run a Front Cooler like a GT. I don't know if Eric (PMB) ever did the Copper Oil Lines that run down the Drivers Side

Thanks for all the advice. I am weighing my options. My engine is in the final stages of installation following a complete rebuild.

Which I'm sure was not cheap, which is even more the Reason for a Front Cooler
