Well today was interesting.
The begining:
I got a 2.7 from a '74 targa for free from a friend. Yup, a free engine. I looked at this engine that had loose head nuts and subsequent exhaust leaks and figured that it would need some work. It couldn't cost that much, right? I mean, the engine was free. So the heads needed t be worked, the barrels needed to be re worked, and I figured that I would just rebuild it my self. During the school semester. In my free time. Ok, so it didn't work out that way. I was fortunate, however, to live near a wonderful shop that is very inexpensive. The owner himself finished assembly of my engine (I dropped off a box of parts and an assembled long block with two pulled studs ). He is only gonna charge me for the time it took him. He did it on his free time and he will likely cut me a large break on the cost. I dropped off the engine when they were moving shops and I told him not to rush as I was in no hurry. Well today I stopped by and was expecting him to have been too busy. Nope, he pulled the cover off of it and was like, "walla." Now I am excited, and sad. the bill will be calculated by Wed
I never thought that I would build a real Porsche /6 because of the cost. this is so overwhelming. I'm gonna need a bunch of encourgement on this one. I hear a sucking sound in my wallet.
Anyone need interior pieces restored? Gotta fund the project somehow.
