Is there a required torque for the oil filter on a 2.0 and is a special filter wrench needed to remove and install the oil filter?
Cap'n Krusty
As tight as you can turn it with one hand. 1.7 and 1.8 oil filters get tightened almost, but not quite, as tight because of the smaller displacement ....................... Oil the rubber gasket before installing the filter. Most of us use giant channel locks or some kind of filter wrench to remove it.

The Cap'n, pullin' your leg a bit.

If you use a German filter, which is the only ones you should use, (mann, or mahle) the installation instructions are printed on the side. You can use whatever will fit to remove it, and hand tight to install. Oil the rubber seal. No need to prefill the filter. I screw it on till the gasket makes contact with the case then 3/4 turn, which is about as tight as I can get by hand.
