im rebuiling cluster, got it apart, whats best and cheapest to get all the gunk off.?
Cap'n Krusty
A stiff brush, hot water, and dish soap should do the job. You should be able to find a parts cleaning brush at an auto parts store. Harbor Freight has a pair of 'em for $1.99. Probably second rate, but they should do the job. http://www.harborfreight.com/catalogsearch...+cleaning+brush

Have fun! The Cap'n

If you are going to put all new bushings and springs, you might try oven cleaner - that is my go to product to remove gunk
