Am in the process of rebuilding my 914 Type IV race engine
When breaking in a street engine.......I would drive it at various rpm limits for around a 1000 miles........change oil and filter......good to go
Rather hard with a race engine
How do you guys break in a new race engine?..............don't have an engine dyno at
my disposal

In michigan I bet you could find a dyno.
Otherwise, I would suggest an autocross or two.
Some good short runs will seat the rings.

Am thinking of doing an open track day....using break in oil
1st session light speed and load......stay out of everyone's way
Next couple of sessions get more aggressive
Bring it home.......change oil and filter.........go racing

Might work...
I would change the oil a few times this season, like after each race....

A test day sounds like the perfect place to break in an engine.
