My plan is to start cutting this weekend.

yup true, but the first on might look a little better than the last..

If they are metal, there are several threads on here showing where to cut etc...

If they are fiberglass, i would leave alot of the old fender there, you can always trim it up later with a cut off wheel on a die grinder..

If I was doing fiberglass, I would try to attach the flare mechanically as well as with the bonding agent, so leave alot of metal..

The best part is you can balance a beer on the rear flares...
