I have a spare 2.0 distributor into which I have installed a Compu-Fire breakerless ignition module. The distributor part number is 039 905 205 A and the distributor vacuum advance mechanism is marked 831 on the actuator arm. My question: Can this be used in my 1974 2.0 engine? Everything I've read indicates that the 74 2.0 actuator arm should be numbered 603. I believe the number 831 is from a 70-72 17. The distributor number indicates a 2.0 part. What are the differences in the advance mechanisms for an 831 versus a 603 actuator arm? The distributor in the car does not use the advance vacuum port. It is vented to the air. Everything I've read shows that to be correct. I would like to just remove this distributor and replace it with the Compu-Fire distributor.

Thanks,
