This place sells Repo Gasburners for $90 each. They're from Midland wheel. Anyone know anything about the seller, the wheel, the manufacture?

Also it shows a 4" backset. I think this is 1/2" less than 914 standard. How do you think it would fit on a narrow body?

Here's the mfg according to cip1.

I think these are actually a nice alternative to the original Mahle Gasburner wheels. If I remember correctly, they may also be available in other finishes as well (polished?).

They’re going to be heavier than the originals. And 0.5” less back space is going to limit tire and ride height choices…

I thought they looked nice, but I never drove on them

They're 18 pounds and I guess VW backset. Looking into several options.

I bought my Pedrini wheels as 'true and in good condition'. We'll they're not. So spend money to have them repaired and trued. Buy Repro wheels new. Take another chance on another used set. All options are about $400. Easiest way is a new set.

Suggestions welcome.

Putting wheels with bug offset on a 914 leads to many potential problems. The ones I had rubbed at times with stock tires! I would look at having the Pedrinis tried? Not cheap but I like the look they give a car.

the ones on the white car looked nice in person. iirc the car had 195's on it with no rub marks. hard to beat the price. esp in the 4 lug flavor.

It appears that the five lug versions come in several different back spacing, but the four lug ones only have one available. Would be a great chice for a 5 lug conversion car if you didn't want the Fuchs.

If you're here in the States, I'm sure there's less expensive options than shipping Empi's from across the pond. wink.gif

I love the look smile.gif

EMPI.

Mid land makes a lot of different wheels. I have the 5 lug gas burner replica as an alternative to my Fuchs.

cip1 has facilities in blaine washington and across the border in bc. shipping the wheels from the UK and any duties/taxes would cost about as much as the wheels alone. the 5 1/2x15 5 lug fuch are more than reasonable.

Shipping from cip1 to most us states is between 65-95. Go to website add 4 wheels to cart add zip code to calculate shipping. Easy

The JGE GeeBee is available in a silver finish, similar to the original ... in 4-lug and 5-lug versions. I have no experience with them, just passing along the info. They seem to be popular with the VW crowd.
