Full Version: rear shock assembly question

It's been a while since I have assembled a stock rear shock, and this has never looked quite right to me. But I'm pretty sure this is what the Haynes manual says is correct.

Is this right?

With the hat... that ends up touching the upside down washer...

That's how it appears in the factory books.
I never noticed that it hit the hat before though.

They will fit fine flipped over and won't deform the hat that way.

Is it just me or does it look like the rubber bush needs to be flipped over so it sits properly. Pretty sure it will sit lower and the washer is closer to the other ends size. Could just be the pic

The way you have it in the picture is correct, even though logic says it looks wrong. . The washer does hit the cap. .
