Full Version: Is it possible to adjust doors inward, so they are flush with quarter panel?

When closed, the back of the driver's door protrudes out further than the edge of the quarter panel (photos below). If you push on the door it goes in flush, and then comes back out after you let go (like you are pushing against rubber).

Has anyone encountered this issue? How do you adjust the door so that it sits flush with the quarter panel?

Thanks,
Steve

Yes there is adjustment in both the latch and the strike. However judging by the gap you have a rust issue.

on both points.

There is adjustment in the striker plate and your door gap is way too big.

There are much bigger problems lurking beneath. sad.gif

It almost looks as if it's not fully engaging the mechanism and closing all the way (or staying "hooked')

Clean and lube door latch assembly. Check striker position. Then look for rust issues.

My car for some reason has bigger non original door seals that cause it to not want to sit flush.

Thanks for all of the advice. This car has clean longitudinal, and no sag. So, rust isn't the issue. It was just an adjustment. I adjusted the striker on the post, and got it to sit flush. Works great now. Thanks.

Thanks,
Steve
