I discovered this old b&w pic my father took of his two exhausted sons after a thorough detailing of 'Kelty', my first 914 in 1973. It's so embarrassing I had to share.
Coors, Jorts, and chrome wheels...that's a good start.

Youngsters take note of the thickness of the Coors cans, and the "pull tabs".

those young fellows don't appear to be old enough to be drinking Coors.

It was either Coors or Bud back then....kind of a Ford vs. Chevy thing. No such thing as jorts in '73, they were just cut-offs and the chromies?...I loved those. I was kind of old school when I bought my only new car and believed that a proper Porsche had chrome wheels....it was only after I'd bought it that I discovered it wasn't a Real Porsche.

Man, I was a grizzled veteran of The Nam by then. I think I even felt insulted when I got carded.

The funny thing is if you told someone I knew that was a pic of me back in the 80's they'd believe it. Probably be drinking Busch beer though. More empty cans would be present as well .

Busch? That's CSOB territory....no wonder you own a 914.

Oh yeah I learned the ways of the CSOB young. If you got it cold enough it all tasted the same .

We just called them napsacks. Actually, I wrote the Kelty Co. telling them how my 914 was like a motorized backpack with all it's storage areas...they sent me a couple of labels that I could sew into the seats!

That was in my younger days. Now, when I lay down I look much taller.
