Hopefully someone can help me with this problem.
I have dual carbs on my 1974 1.8 914 engine.
Here is the problem: The engine cranks quickly and it idles very smooth with no issues.
The problem is when I give the car gas and let out the clutch the car hesistates big time like it isn't getting enough fuel and almost stalls. I have to feather the gas pedal quickly for the next few seconds and eventually the car picks up speed. It almost feels like the same problem I had years ago on another 914 with a cheap single carb assembly but this car has dual carbs.
The gas tank is clean, new fuel pump, new fuel filter, timing set properly, dwell set within specs. I cleaned the carbs thoroughly. All spark plugs seem to be firing.
The car has empi 44's dual carbs which I know are probably too big for this stock engine. Car doesn't appear to be running rich however. Any ideas? Thanx L
