These provide cooling the the rust spots on the longs. Very important!!

I think the reason for the vents was to add additional real estate for dirt and debris to collect.

The added air pressure inside is supposed to push out those dents.

If the louvers were reversed, they could be used for brake cooling.

That's funny. A set of those came with my car. However, they've never been on it..............for a reason.

I've considered that for the drivers side only, to vent the oil cooler plumbing.
