Only post here if you are interested adding Getty CF parts to your car.
Indicate if you are interested and please leave your name. We need five people to commit to the (914) lids, you only need to buy one. I will submit the names to Neal on Friday afternoon.

I think I've made it clear that, if I can see some detailed pictures, I will be in for a set.
Since I've already spent $1300 for an unseen set that didn't make me happy, I'm understandably unwilling to commit to another unseen set.
So, I'll say again, show me some detailed pictures. I'll buy both decks.

see if they can build a targa top. I bet there is a big market for a stromg lite weight C/F top that would bolt up like stock

I could potentially be in for a set. Who has these? Do they fit right? Is there an option to get FG instead of CF?

Here is the thread with the details.
I don't need any CF lids, so my commitment or not would not affect whether or not the deal happens. I called to get a price on a getty 911 style dash, but Neal was not in. I was told he may not be able to get back to me until Monday. Once I get a price I will make my decision and post it here.
Aren't group buys great?

Sorry but I must back out of this one. FG is less than 1/2 the price I am told.

fiberglass GT non discount looks to be the same as CF at discount, $499.

Make sure you're comparing equivalent lids, some fiberglass ones are just skins that have to be pinned in place (no provision for hinges or latches)

HEY JOE,
I was just wondering what the problem with the GT Racing hoods was. I got the impression that you liked them when you posted your first pics a while back. Just curious.

The CF lids are just like stock in their physical appearence and can be used with stock hardware. With the discount you are paying about the same for FG, that will have to be pinned.

Since Neal is away until Monday. I will let this post run until then. At that time I will call Neal with the names of the people who have commited. I will then make another post of the names of these people and we can add people at that time. Currently I have 4 names at this time, and we need five. So come on guys, one more.

The pair from GT Racing would be absolutely fine if I were going to paint them, but the way the subframe is bonded to the main panel leaves a little to be desired, so I'm entertaining the idea of finding a better set.
I have asked Neal for some detailed pictures, but haven't received a response as of today. If I get pics, I'll post them here.
Mack, see if you can get Neal to send those pictures. I'll make a decision as soon as I can see the decks.

If you decide to jump on new lids, lemmeno. I'll buy your rear lid.....at a suitable discount, of course.

Are you gonna give me your paint mix code?

If I get a set from Getty, the GT Racing decks will be returned for a refund.
I have a request in to my painter to send me the paint code. He told me I shouldn't tell anyone, but I don't mind.

I would be in for a set, if I could actually look at them, and I like what I see. I can't get ahold of anyone yet, and he hasn't responded with pictures to email. You are going to have a hard time selling ANYTHING without pictures- at least CF bodywork LOL

HEY GUYS-Neal will send you pictures if you go to the GettyDesign website and request pictures of the CF lids. That's what he asked me to pass along to those who would be iinterested. He says he's very busy and this would be the quikest way to take a look. I'm sold by what I have seen of pictures posted by members on this site. I like the non-painted look, especially on my black car.

I will be devils advocate....
pics wont tell you doo doo... The product can be made to look GREAT in pics....but will you receive the part that was used for the pic?
Heck AIR has nice pics of some there 'glass......but every piece of AIR glass I ever touched was junk...the amount of time fitting it was way to much!!
AIR does

to customers "Its race glass and need to be fit"

AIR
The rumour mill has been grinding for year that Getty makes some of the stuff Hank (GT Racing) sells..
Getty makes good stuff, but it still will require fitting, and finishing...
How long have you had GT's hoods? and you expect Hank to take them back?

Bondo: I will be escorting 914RS to WCC05.
Mack: I have contacted Neal for pictures and have not received a reply.
Tim T: I know for a fact that my decks were made in CO. Hank was having trouble getting a quality product from his usual builder and had a local kit plane builder come in to make my decks. After three attempts, he sent me the ones I have now.
My painter looked at them today and stated that he thinks we can sort them out pretty easily, but in his opinion, I should receive some compensation from GT Racing.
And, I've had the decks for about 30 days (took me three months to get them!) If I decide they're going back, he will refund the purchase price or pay the consequenses

Gettys website made it seem like they were going to be direct plug and play...
If they are going to need finishing and major screwing around to make work then I am out. I love the look, but I can't drop $600 on something that is going to take another 10 hours plus more money to make right.
