What is the quickest and easiest way to change the front torsion bars.

They often get stuck in the spline area in the front. I drive the bar further in to pop out the cap in the front of the A arm then use a big punch to drive them back the other way. That also allow you to clean the splined area of old grease and rust. The cap can be reused in most cases. If not Stoddard carries them. Same as early 911.

Getting them out may or may not be the toughest part. Treat any rust.

So I got the torsion bars out easily. I was going to replace them with sway away 23mm tubular bars. I thought that the ones that were in the car were stock however when I got them out they are clearly not stock. I think that they are away away solid 23mm bars.

So which should I install, the 23mm solid or 23mm tubular bars?
