New flywheel is installed. Measured 3/4" of fork play when tranny was bolted up. Pulled tranny and Added a second washer to try and get it to the 1/2" spec.
Bolted it all back up and now have 1/4" of play.

Is it ok to leave it or do I need to pull the tranny again and use a thinner washer?

If the washer you speak of, that you added was under the pivot ball for the clutch fork that should have given you even more fork "throw. Did you replace the pivot ball cup in the fork ?

Yes, under the pivot ball.
I didn't replace the ball cup bushing but it had only 500 hundred or so miles on it. I replaced it when I did the clutch last summer.
Dammit. In my haste maybe I misunderstood what adding a washer does. However, why would it shorten the throw?

Usually the added washer is to correct the geometry when the flywheel has been cut....I personally think you are ok but also would have been OK with just the one washer under the ball pivot. When the clutch cable is added and tightened the throw out will be in contact with the pressure plate fingers regardless of the free play so I would think the less the better.

When you adjust the clutch cable be sure to allow a fair amount of free play at the pedal so you will have adequate pressure so that new clutch disk and flywheel won't wear out prematurely.

Shimming the ball moves the clutch closer to the pressure plate and thus decreases the amount of travel to engage. What you did is fine. It is no prob to have the TOB touching the PP, that is how it should be. Just assure that your clutch pedal does not reach full PP disengagement before the pedal travel is completed or the cable will stretch. There is the adjustment on the pedal board for some limiting of the pedal arch.

I have experienced wrong fork play just because the surfaces that meet on the engine and trans were not clean enough, gearbox was painted and engine dirty.
