I thought the same thing. I could almost see an RX-7 body under there, but the door handles are 914.

Is that a big round air filter in the back window? V8 conversion or just a good use of door handles?

Almost certain Honda Civic. Imagined transplanting the roofline of the same car onto a Fiero, because it looks so right.Sales figures point out the popularity and similarity to Pininfarina's curves. With a twinturbo v8 ++

What a waste. And the scoop on the roof? Really?

One of the 911 race cars has a roof scoop, this is probably a tribute to that car....

California Sure,SBC, done a little. All the heavy lifting is done, tho it no longer resembles a 914 at all. It looks a little like the Fieros modded up. I can't bring myself to call it ugly because it's so well done. It's the intact 914 door that makes it clear where it's origins are. The tail has some nice clues of Porsche GT1 as does the roof scoop. What the seller "auto" do is post his ad with a dozen pix with more detail,to like, you know, sell it.

Here is another one. Why? Was for sale at Hershey for 25k.

Well yeah, that would make sense with the engine being in the ass of the car. But this? Even aesthetically it's a bad idea.
I've never seen people do so may botch cosmetic body jobs on a car than a 914. Sad to ruin a classic this way. Just goes to show that for a long time, being cheap and no respect for the car has lent itself to being an inexpensive project car to do whatever with. Now that it's getting more recognition and prices soon to go up, people will regret chopping up this car.

The sad thing about these botch botch body jobs to make a 914 "look" faster, is once you get in it to drive it 0-60 in 13 seconds. I guess all those wings and spoilers and rocket ships attached didn't make a difference. lol
It's on the beholder eyes. I'm sure there are things that he can say of your selection. As some had mention, it looks liked a lot if work was out I to it.

I like the roof scoop a lot better than red pants

Click to view attachment Granted,it does resemble a slope up front,in a way. I don't recall it offered on Ebay.
I would buy this for $2k but not for $12k. It does look to be "well done" in pictures. Someone needs to go look at this and get better pics. I have seen the term Super Car used several times on V8 914's. I think "super cars" are a little more refined than this.

Super SBC V8 Porsche 914. Today's threshold for super power is way up there, what with all the new fangled tech available.Even in 283 form a mid V8 is a great idea.California after all, requires some real radical displays to be super.A wing?

Interesting look, done professionally I suppose. A more detailed pix of the targa bar mods might be useful. A custom hood too. So '80s. Appears well cared for.
The candy red car that you refer to is another of his builds. I originally saw that car at Goodguys show this summer in Del Mar. The builder lives in San Diego. That one is a convertible, it does have a very similar look as the naked car. It also has a SBC. I will look to see if I can find a pic. From the Goodguys show and post. Craig at CAMP

Found it. This is the other 914 built by the builder of the naked car that I posted pics of. He shared his car collection with me at his home. He is a real 914 enthusiast. The red car is a SBC powered car. Craig at CAMP
