Somebody want to buy my extra transmission, but I don't know what it is worth.
It is a freshly rebuilt 901 side shift with close ratio gears designed for the track.
What is a fair value?

Porschequip here in Boulder quoted me a price of $1960 for a rebuilt 901. That's with all new guts. There is a VW shop down the street from here that said they would do it for $900. They were using new and re-manufactured guts. Both had a warranty tho...
What are the particulars of the rebuild?

Well John, Tomorrow is my birthday and I could always use another fresh tranny since I could be blowing one up every other week or so with the Chalon. IPB Image

Careful Scott, you want TALL gears designed for the autobahn in your V8!

I don't know all the details. When I bought my /6 it came with 2 transmissions. One was stock and this one was on the car. It was fun around town, but 5th is to short for extended highway driving, so I put the stock one back on. 1st gear is a little taller than stock (AB?). I think 5th might be X. Fill in the blanks for 2nd, 3rd and 4th. My best info is that this race box has seen very little use since it was built.

Am I supposed to make you an offer?

Please do.

Somebody else also told me they were interested, but I didn't know how much to tell them. Any potential buyers are more than welcome to make an offer. Any informed people are encouraged to speak up and tell me what it is worth.

I could be interested, but it depends totally on the gears inside.
Can you determine the ratios by rotating the output shafts and counting the number of revolutions the input shaft makes in each gear. It would be fairly easy to calculate the ratios from this data.
