Full Version: What 911 rear hubs to use?

I'm starting to collect parts for my five lug conversion. For the rear I already have 914/6 stub axles that came extra with the car when I bought it years ago so I was planning on using those even though I know I will tied to the 914 CVs and axles. This is no big deal as this is only a 2.0 four. My question is can I use any 911 rear hubs from 69-89 with the 914/6 stub axles or should I only be looking for early hubs 69-73? I have read the classic threads on five lug conversion but couldn't find the answer. Of course I could have missed it.

Here are my 914/6 stub axles:

69-73 are the correct ones. 74-89 can be used but they will require spacing due to the 5 mm hub difference.

IIRC early '74 are OK as well, I think it was a 1/2 year change. Early is 108mm CV, then it went to the 100mm CV.
108mm is the hot ticket for big hp and a straight bolt on using the sway-a-way axles.

Thanks,

While you can use any 69-89 hub, I would use the 74?-89 as they are hubcentric. You will need a 5mm spacer to make them work. I think Patrick Motorsports sells them

I have a pair of outer hubs from a 1970 911 if you are still looking

They would need a little bit of filing on one or 2 splines as a couple got slightly dinged by the machine shop when getting knocked out from the trailing arm bearings

Looking for $80 shipped for the pair

Andrew is low post here, but I've bought lots of stuff from him, good guy, good stuff.
