I talked with a guy from a VW shop today at work. He was working on a 74 914 getting it ready to pass smog. But I was sure 74s didn't need to be smogged anymore in CA. I'm right aren't I?

Uh yeah...74s are exempt since January 2003...

Yep, I got mine done without smog after 4 years on non-op status.

I put duel webers,a cam bursche exhaust the works in mine in about 85 -86 then they passed the original smog law , my teener sat in my garage for about 15 years!!! I showed them though, I outwaited those bastards

I'm thrilled that my 74 no longer needs a smog. I couldn't find a place that would agree to do it. Who's laughing now baby???
