Hello fellow 914club members, I was wondering if anyone knew where this 914-6 turbo was. It appeared in VW&Porsche mag in 1981, and if anyone has any more photos of this car.

That may be the Llew Kinst 914-6 GT. It started life as a "standard" GT, possibly built by the factory? It was raced for years and years, and got wilder and wilder. I heard it wound up with a turbocharged engine for a while.

It has since been "restored" back to regular GT specs.

I don't think so, the 914 you are talking about was a Krammer car, but this one was owned by "John Bond Jr" ( Not James Bond)as stated in the article, built by Danny McLaughlin of AIR.
I was just looking for more info and photos on this car.

when last i saw that car (or one that looked a LOT like it, in red) it was owned - or at least shown - by San Diego Porsche dealer Alan Jonson.

John Bond, Jr was well known in San Diego PCA while i was there; interesting character. owned an ex-IROC RSR when it was too new to be thought of as rare (we figured Penske would be racing RSR's in the IROC forever...)

John Bond, Senior published Road & Track for quite a while; there was some money in the family...

anyway - i last saw the car in 1976 or so, when the factory Turbo Carrera was still new and there were no turbo 914,6's.

No turbo 914/6s? Not factory maybe. Otto built one that came within a few ounces of gas of taking the Parade driving trophy at the FIRST Monterey Parade. The car's still in WLA, AFIK. 9s and 11s look GOOOOOOODDDDD on a teener, BTW. Alan Johnson squeeked into the win because he didn't run out of gas ............................ The Cap'n

Interesting that you mention it in RED, I was in West Palm Beach Fl a while back ago for a vintage race and took some photos of a car that had the same external look except the top had (Roof) been removed. Same turbo rear, but the owner got bent out of shape when I was taking my photos and cover it up and asked me what I was looking for. I replied that it was an interesting car and just wanted to photograph it, I will see if I can uncover them and post them.

There was aslo a white "Altec Lansing' sponsored wide body with this style body pieces, no turbo though. A-I-R fiberglass / Dan McGloughlin made (makes ?) these pieces.

Uhh... Red with an AIR Grp 5 kit, with the 2 stage aluminum tail?

I owned an identical car in the Lauderdale area, 91-92.

Could this be your 914 twin turbo??? It was at a Porsche club gathering with a bunch of 956 and 962. If it is where did it go?

Ah, that's right! It was built buy the Kremer brothers, wasn't it? Fitting that it wound up with a turbocharged engine, then...

If that's my old car, someone has been VERY busy...

Never had more than about 170 horses -maybe- back then.. I think was a 2.4.. it could be the one..?

Same tail.... oh, and it was a street car.. sort of...

cool cars, have the altec lansing ad, don't know anything about either one

First photo of (Blue) car appears to be in Dan's (A-I-R) shop on Santa Anita Ave. in Burbank. Looks like his custom 928ized 911 fiberglass treatment going on a car in the corner of photo. I've been over to this shop many times back in the 70's/ 80's, lots of cool cars and antiques going on. New owner of the building Jack K. (high end body shop) upgraded the building for seismic code-- the tile floors are gone
Another big 914 turbo panzer was the 80's era Von-K car. Originally a Kremer built GT, brought here and POC raced. It was kinda orange-yellow, stuffed with a big Garrett, intercooler, 2.4 MFI and had a huge "Ports-o-call" air scoop on it But it was a TTD car at the old RIR ! The car was returned to its original Kremer look as a GT and was at Monterey for the Porsche 50th.
