It took a while but I figured out the difference.

Thought I would add a post for anyone else looking to get the correct parts.

The ORANGE ones are the 75-76 under car tins and have nuts welded on. The black ones are missing a tab that had a 2nd mounting hole in it.

The official name is Air Guide. The top 2 have a large channel for the shift rod.... Driver's side.

Ones for a tailshift car are different than sideshift air guides.

Could the black ones be tail shift?

Nope.
The easiest way to distinguish the tailshift guide for the driver side is the hump goes down below the shift rod, not above.
The passenger side early piece may be identical to later ones thru MY '74, not sure.

the 75/76 ones are bulged lower because of the reverse two into one header thing that for some strange reason they want inside that piece of tin and not outside.

It seems stupid to do that because its just keeping the heads that much hotter.

Do you want to sell that late passenger side guide?

Sorry, I read your question and did not process it correctly. The orange ones will go on my car..... 75 1.8 with a 75 exhaust and HE. the holes line up, I just need to figure the wire path etc...

Sorry,

Clark

I believe I still have the leftover late guides in a box from when I backdated my exhaust. If you still need something, pm me the specifics and if I have it it's yours for the price of shipping.
