Well I want to get these working correctly.

When I pull the heater level all the way up, hot air just "oozes" out into the cab. When I move the fresh air fan lever over, it doesn't seem to work or even turn on. The airflow doesn't increase... Also, the other two directional levers don't seem to work either- the hot air oozes out of all- defrost, center and down. Am I missing something?

Is there a diagram that shows all the wiring and correct tubing for the heater and fan? Where do I start?

Do you have a heater blower motor on the engine and have you wired it directly to see if it works.

IF the blower works the next step is to check the heater lever. The blower is activated by grounding created by pulling the lever up. Check to make sure the wire is hooked up.

Get the blower working first and then start on the next problem.

you might check to see if the flapper boxes are fully opening. pull the lever up and go underneath to make sure they are open all the way. look at the paper hoses in the interior and in the front under the cowl area to see if they are intact.

Turn the key on and pull the heater lever all the way up. If the auxiliary heater motor works, you'll hear it running. If it works, check the flappers to see that they open all the way. Check the hoses from the flappers to the heater tubes. There are also two hoses behind the speaker grills that are sometimes damaged or missing.

The fresh air fan is independent from the heater system. Once again, turn the key on, push the top knob on the dash control to the right. If it works, you'll hear it. Its susposed to have three speeds.

Yes, the heater blower works. Key on and lever up and I can hear it running.

So dumb question- Where are the flappers located? Beneath heater blower?

Flappers are located underneath the engine, outboard(one each side)just above and forward of the engine mount bar IIRC. They are controlled by wires coming from the tunnel.

The fresh air blower should have three speeds. It's common for one or more of the speeds not to work. The usual problem here is that the sliding contacts are corroded behind the switch in the dash.

You can see the fresh air control boxes in the front trunk witout removing anything. Have a helper move the sliders while you're watching and see if they're moving all right.

The heater flapper boxes mount on the heat exchangers and have ducting that goes between them and the chassis. Those might need to be replaced. The flapper control cables can be adjusted if they are not pulling things open all the way. They just use your standard barrel nut.
