I have a duel vacuum port advance unit on our 2.0. Can I ditch it and use a single port unit?
I think the second port is a decal thing for emissions right?
Stock injection, tracked a vacuum leak and poor fuel mileage to the vacuum advance unit.
You could just unplug the vacuum line and put a bolt in the end to cap it off.
Vacuum advance makes your acceleration smoother by adding advance earlier, but you will feel the difference only in slow traffic.
When you stomp on it, like I know you do, the mechanical advance takes over anyways, so it's no different.
So long as everything moves freely, and your advance plates are clean and greased, you will get used to the difference pretty quickly and it won't bother you.
The retard side is used to SNAP the advance plates back to idle very quickly to reduce over run and extra fuel being released into the atmosphere......but it's not anything you will miss.
