huh.gif Guys, I need your help bad---I am in the middle of fixing my clutch tube and need info for proper placement---

I did the search and the pics I found are not at the best angles for me to discern the placement--

I have it welded back up to the outer firewall--now it is where it snakes inside the tunnel with relation to the shifter mounting pad....

Is it along the bottom of the floor and angled from right side to left side BEFORE the shifter cutout??

Or is it actually seen in the cutout?? i.e.--does the shift rod go under it or over it or what???? confused24.gif

Help help help!!!!

Thanks guys--I saw his stuff and it still did not help me---I appreciate ya'll trying to steer me in a direction---

Maybe one of yous guys have a project car sitting around and it has the shifter out---just look at that hole as it is and tell me what you see--or better yet take a pic of it----

TIA Jonathan

Here is what I got so far----see how the tube is to the far right of the tunnel--

What I need to know is--: does this tube stay to the right or left of the rear shifter mount bolt--and--is it on the floor or does the shift rod pass underneath it??

This way I have a bearing on where to properly bend it--

TIA

Uhh.... the toob runs down the right side, and ends just in front of the shifter stuff, a bit, the shift rod is well to the left.. and away from the tube.

Hey, if ya need me to, I'll drive 20 mintues, and pull the carpet out.

AHA! It stays to the RIGHT, on the floor, and ramps up a tiny amount at the end... (forward)

Thanks for the pic.. wink.gif

The twist/bend in the forward end of it is supposed to aim along the path the cable would 'want' to follow out to the left.

JUST BARELY..

biggrin.gif OK--so your saying that it stays to the right until it passes just in front of the shifter then takes a jog to the left....I believe that is what you were saying---??

Correct am I???
redshift
Yes... try to visualize the path the cable will exit, tube opening is forward, and to the right of the mounted shifter base.... as I recall... just a.. 4.. 6 inches.. less even..

It stays to the right, and on the floor.

beerchug.gif Thanks man--life saver---I am doing this, roughing in flares, and sundry welding all at one time--

Hoisting a coors light to ya!!

I know I know--coors light--but I like it--when I am working on the car, keeps me motivated somehow--- biggrin.gif

Just did this to a car this week. The tube starts out on the passenger side on the rear. It should stick out the back of the firewall about 32mm. It slowly transitions to the center about half way thru where there is a small bulkhead that it goes thru. You can see this with a small mirror and flashlite thru the rear access hole. It then continues to the drivers side and is held in place with two brackets that are welded to the tunnel in front ot the shifter. The accel cable tube is mounted just above it. Best I could tell, it runs under the shifter, but the mirror might just have made it look that way.
