Cost was $1800, they striped 5 paint jobs to bare metal. fixed the filler hole in the front hood, took out stone dings, smoothed the flares and wet sanded/polished the car. Not bad I figure for the cost!!!

Paint looks good John.

What's up with your targa top? Can't quite make out what's going on there. Does that panel lift off?

I like your fresh air vent!

is that a sparco knob. i got the same one i think.

Thanks guys. The top has a smoked lexan panel in it to let more light in for the video system since the interior is black. It is also raised about 2 inches in the back to let air out. Yes, it is a Sparco knob on a Rennshift by James Adams, one of the best things I have bought for the car. The dash has a cylinder head temp gage on the left and trans temp on the right with a switch for the cooler pump. The shop is called Garage Los Ponchos and I have been going there since around 1980 or so. Is the paint job as good as a $10,000 job, no but hell the car is a race car and has had several panels and doors replaced over the years so I figure it is a pretty good deal. If you do take a car there, make sure you have the registration in order and get some Mexican insurance as most American companies don't cover you there. They like a week or more to do the work and make sure to take a picture/diagram of how the tail lights are hooked up as they can never get that right!!!

Nice job John, didn't see you at the autocross last weekend, drove the RS America, blew a valve guide, $6000 to fix, oh boy. Hijack over.

Nice. Is that a metallic color, John? Got a paint code?

Whatever the cost, it's better than the misery I'm going thru right now headbang.gif

So it was your car that I saw. $1800 is a good deal, but it seems kinda high for them, no? They are all over the board when it comes to pricing. It all depends on what is required. I am willing to help anyone who wants help taking their car to Los Panchos. Just PM me and I can help arrange things (no charge). Your car looked nice when they were doing it, I can only imagine what it looks like in person.

Don, man that sucks. Let me know if I can help. I have a good shop that can fix it for less thatn anyone else with out sacrificeing quality of work. You should come over and see my /6 on the stand. I am painting and then it is going in (I hope).

I forgot to mention the window vent, I made for getting a little more air in and it works really well. Made a mold and heated a piece of plexiglass and it slipped right in. The draw back is there is some dirt and stuff that comes it too..... The paint stripping took 4 or 5 days they said as they had to take it off in layers. The paint is from one of their books as I used Mexican paint. It is close to the blue that Mini Coopers have but a slightly red base so there is some purple in it. I drove the car over but trailered it back and did not bother to strip anything.
