This side shifter transaxle went in for a check up, and regeared by Dr. Evil approximately 22 months ago.
Incoming: Your gear box has nothing wrong with it, it is quite good and has a 904 shaft with a C second gear and an LSD. Your box is very special. It does have the billet plate in it.
Present gearing: C-N-Z-fH. This setup will move all the gears higher for higher top speeds and lower RPM.
1st gear is non existant/lock out
RPM at 60 MPH was running about 2,100 RPM.
The part where the plastic console mounts to, has a whole about the size of a nickel that was made to accomodate a cable shifter in the past.
Has approximately 3,000 miles since being regeared.
I inquired of a gentleman with over 30 years of working on 914's to help me try and avaluate a price range of what to sell it for, with what it has for internals. Said it was hard to determine, but did ultimately give me a range to work with.
