Anybody seen this show , " just cause were dumbass ,don't mean you gotta be one too.

Could a 914 be built as a drag car

I would think done properly it has weight and weight distribution advantage s

I have never seen one quote purpose built for dragging

But I'm sure a big v8 conversion , big tires ,wheely bar and a whole lotta roll cage
Could do some decent times et's

Could it compete with ,nova s ,mustangs and 55 chevys

You guys tell me ,but isnt it just a matter of power to weight and traction

Try google. Think there is a video of a guy with a Northstar/trans in a 914.

Years ago, at the Cincinnati PCA Porsche Parade, they had an event at a drag strip. I think a 914-6 big engined conversion ran the 1/4 mile in the 12s.

Been done...by a couple of our members in fact.

My brother had a 69 ss 396 Nova that he dragged and let me drive. it turned a 12.29 at the strip, i think my turbo 914 with the short gears is faster but it should be as far a horspower + weight ratio goes. My transmission would do the dump if i dragged it though.

a couple of guys have got their street v8s into the 11s but i don't think it would be reasonable to build a 914 that could compete with the car you see on that show.
the slowest of those cars are doing thew 1/4 in less than 9 seconds the fastest ar getting in to the 7s.

you could cut all the the body panels of and build a tube chassis then use a $15.000 or more trans axle and a 1,000+ hp engine and tires that together would be about as wide as the car and if you could get traction you might have some fun.

do you ever wonder why the only mid engine drag cars you see have have 300" wheel base?

Wow. 7 seconds that's quick

That's reminds of bull rideing

It's hard to image a teener running those times wub.gif

What kinda a time would a formula 1 car run a 1/4 mile in.

And I mean a old v8 car not the current turbo ones

Being as all races start in the standing start format

It must be something that the car is optimized for to some degree

low 9 high 8s maybe

A 2000 lb. 914 would require approximately 937 horsepower to run about a 7.5 second quarter mile. Now I’m more of a big block Mopar guy but I would think a blown Chevy running laughing gas would be in that ball park…
