Randal
Anyone have one lying around?

If you do have to ask I'm going to blame Andy.

ClayPerrine
"intermediate shift rod"?

What part do you mean? Internal to the transmission, or one of the external ones?

Randal
The rod that runs from the engine compartment up to the shifter. The shifter has a cast piece and bolt that ties to it...

I probably has one... lemme check tonight. All or part? I suspect the "...cast piece and bolt that ties to it..." only

nope. he needs the *rod*, not the shifter part ...

i had to saw off the rod at the rear coupler because the setscrew was stripped and didn't come out.
and we didn't have much time, so out came the hacksaw.

all he needs is the rod that goes between the shifter and the "behind the firewall" coupler.

btw. we're talking sideshifter here ...

OK.
Randal
Here is a picture for the side shifter rod. The dimensions are:

Overall the shaft is approx. 31" long.

The tube diameter is approx. 3/4".

The shaft on the shift assembly side is 16 5/8". This 1/2" shaft is welded to the larger 3/4" tube.

The final 2" on the shaft has splines cut into it.

good news/bad news

good= I've got the correct part for you....

bad= the hole for the "cone" set screw is tweaked,

last time I had to repair one of these, I filled the hole with JB Weld, and inserted the correct set screw covered with a plastic sheet to form the correct female pattern.

if you want to try this, you can just have the shift rod for free.....

Randal I will have one for you on Sunday.
Feed me and I will deliver it chowtime.gif

Randal is going to need it Trekkor...he's decided to pass on mine due to the damage....being a dedicated track/auto-x car, it is wiser to have a known good part than a part that has already been comprimised.

Trekkor
Remember the free 914 last year I gave away?
It's coming back home... unsure.gif

is that a white interior??? look nice, but I could never have a car with such a light colored interior.....

Now that is a done deal; your choice of restaurants we have here. Have you ever eaten at Original Joe's in San Jose?

Or I have to be in Napa next week anyway; maybe we can hit that great place at the end of Cutting Wharf Road?
Trekkor
You come here... wink.gif

That way I can get home early.
I'll even pop it out and clean it up for you.
