My front hood looks like it was bent somehow by the PO. I took it off and I think I have reshaped it to where I want it. Problem is, I can't easily test fit it because spring loaded hinges are in the way.
What is the best (safest) way to remove the hinges? It looks like the springs attach by hooks into the fender, but I'm not able to stretch them enough to release them. Is this my best option?

Leather gloves. Grab the spring. Pull. Remove.

I use large vise grips clamped (very tightly) to the spring near the hooked end and pull to unhook the spring.

Using 2-3 ft rope, loop through hook at fender mount and pull. You can reattach using the same method.
More secure than pliers and more leverage than via screw driver or your hands.

MC tool specifically for the purpose of removing installing (exhaust) springs
Looks like a T handle w/ a hook at the end.

I use the rope method but with a coat hanger and a hammer for two handed pulling.

Coat hanger. If the hanger gets trapped on the wrong side, just cut it, and get another one from a closet. Hanger needs to be the continuous loop version.

Quick, easy. Never had a problem doing it this way.
