Its been a long process, but its here. The basis for a new historic racer. Its a 72 with a 2l with webers and side shifter. The motor will have to come back to about 1.8. Strangely, I can run either injection or carbs. It seems that when the 914 was originally homologated for historic racing nobody knew much.

I need a few parts, rear boot floor, rockers, front and rear valences, 2l injection - runners, throttle body and plenum, air cleaner, brain. Otherwise its better than expected.

I will start pulling it apart over Easter. The plan is to send it out and get it dipped and see what comes back.

Sheet metal parts can be found at restoration design. I can help with most of the djet parts. Can't help with l jet if you go that way.

If you look at pictures of current and back in the day race 914s, the rear valence is left off. As far as the -4 homologation with carbs or fuel injection, I remember reading a story that a deal was struck between SCCA and Porsche allowing them to use carbs, which flowed more air…

I cant run the LE spoiler in the class. It has to be original.

LE air dam was an option for 74+ cars. Not sure if that would allow you to run it, though.

I'd suggest sticking with the carbs for a race car. They should be easier to set up than the D-jet, plus you already have them. Plus, if you're allowed to change the cam, you can get significantly more power with carbs than the D-jet.

Thanks Curt. I will be in touch down the track a bit. Dave, the Djet box is going to be "fixed" in ways I can't disclose. Trust me, I'm a lawyer.

The motor will have a new crank, rods, barrels, JE pistons, Len Hoffman heads, Webcam 86? that's roughly equivalent to a GE 80 and about 10-11:1 compression. Only just able to drive on the street.

Even though I can get historic registration to drive it on the street in LHD, I'm going to convert it to RHD because its a lot safer to drive, so I have been looking for a RHD dash top. Roger Bray in the UK used to sell them [I think] but doesn't have them on his website. Any clues where I might find one?
