So I have only driven my car a few times and I noticed that the front had a slight wiggle. I found the driver's side wheel bearing needed another turn, no problem. The passenger side was loose too but not at the wheel bearing. It looks like the lower part of the strut is loose in the upper part. I put them together so I am (semi) aware of the parts involved. Wheat did I do wrong? Did I miss a part or did something break? I should be able to pull it apart this week but I'm not sure what to look for.

Thanks!

Check:

Loose steering shaft uni-joint underneath the dash.

Worn Steering coupler.

Worn strut inserts

Worn tie rod ends.

So the strut housing seems to move in the dust cover?
check the tightness of the gland nut (?) holding the strut in the housing.
They can back out.

Look at the lower ball joint, see if it wiggles side to side....

If not any of those things, then:

There has been loose struts from cap not holding insert properly.

Also, if the top bushing has been replaced with spherical bearing, maybe the
fit of rod to the adapter in bearing has play.

And, then you can measure spindle for roundness where each bearing sits.

Yeah, it feels like the strut insrt is sloppy but I see no movement above in the trunk. I'm going to have a tough time fixing this as My hood cable just failed. headbang.gif
