Asian castings? Cleft my heart in twain, will you? How can I verify that? They certainly don't look new, just rebuilt. I'll see if I can locate some casting number information. Of course, I'm only worried about that if something actually goes wrong, which I seriously doubt.

He's kidding about the asian castings. Only Webers fell into that problem. All DRLA's are made in good old Italy.

If you got them from alfa1750 you've got the real McCoy, as well as a very well prepped set.

If you haven't gotten them already, these were recommended to me for my DRLA's, and I'd definitely recommend them now to prevent clogged idle jets.

Yes, and you will absolutely love the linkage fine adjusters he put on them. He does fabulous work.

Plus one on Alfa1750, good stuff. I think I still have a pair of his DRLA's in a box somewhere, from him at least 15 years ago. I know for sure I still have a pair of side-draft DHLA's, just saw those recently.

If I wasn't already rebuilding Webers and Dellortos on my own, he's the guy I'd send them too, even with the shipping to Italy.




Those are the pump jet check balls.

No, those balls are actually small lead bb's used to block off the current idle jet air holes in the top of the carb. The kit changes the routing of the idle air through the raised idle jet holder now. It's all in the included instructions. I've done this kit a coulple times and it's highly recommended.

I apologize - I missed the link to that kit from CB. I thought he was talking about a rebuild kit, in which sometimes new check balls are included.

what does alfa1750 charge to go thru a set of carbs? i realize if the plate shaft bushings/bearings are shot more expense might be involved. or is that part of his rebuild?

He's in Italy and so far as I know only sells carbs he's gone through, doesn't actually rebuild yours. Also sells parts, new and used, carb kits, etc., even a bare body if you've got one that's corroded. Do an advanced e-Bay search for alfa1750 as the vendor.

If you want to get Dellortos rebuilt here in the U.S. try ACE (Air Cooled Engineering, ex Art Thraen) in Utah. They've done the shafts of various Dellortos for me, carbs with frozen shafts bought cheap at swap meets. They rebuild as well, highly recommended.
