Driving around today, I felt like I was in a Humvee H1.
Oh, what joy to look down on all the wee little cars.

Yeah, huh …
Even the new Minis are larger than a 914

I pulled up beside a new Mini one day and when I looked over I was staring directly at the door handle.

And the current Fiat 500 is quite a bit larger than this one...

Fiat 500. My first car! Overhere in Europe, these were common as muck back in 70s. Not all Abarths like this one. Roadholding of the standard car was -at least- 'iffy'. Modded cars had improved handling and raced the European circuits with success.
You could buy tons of aftermarket parts for these cars. Most 'go-faster' stuff was easy to attach: large Webers, big bore exhausts.
There are YT films with these Abarth on the Nürnbergring! And they were pretty competative.

Definitely small in comparison to today's cars, but thankfully quite spacious on the inside. Signs of good design.
I like my 2006 Scion xB for the same reason, I fit!

914's are large cars but 928's are LARGER!

I also have noticed this
When I pull up next to my neighbor s 1976 maverick
The 914 is roughly the same size as that hugh hunk of Detroit steel . I was amazed it could be that big
But still handles like a go cart ...

Jarno? Don't know him. The guy with the Fiat says he eats there every week, so he knows the owner well.

A fellow xb owner, miss mine that I had. Plenty of room in a rolling box. Surprised you on corners, tight suspension.
