I have a very talented 15 year old tenth grader. He plays Bass in a band of 18 plus year olds and Drums in 3 other bands, He takes Bass and Piano lessons at John Duss Music Conservetory, He plays drums for a Guitar ensemble for school, he plays Bass in the tenth grade jazz ensemble, and a big upright bass for the 11 grade string quartet. He has expressed an interest in coming out the the WCC "05" thinking it was in the same proximity as last years event. He made some friends in a Kids club that was close to the Pruneyard and wanted to visit them. I explained that were probably 10 hrs south from last years event location. So a casual visit would not really be possible. Here's the questions:

1) as I recall there was talk of a band of club members thinking about putting on a loose jam session.

A) Did this ever happen?

cool.gif If so, is there any openings for a Bass or Drummer.

2) Does anyone know if there are and 18 and under clubs with live music near the event he could visit?

any leads would be appreciated. I'll do the follow up from here.

Well, the "band" is supposed to be my doing, I believe, and I've been crazy busy. However, I do know there's a little club called "Harmony Suite" in Simi Valley where they welcome the under 18 crowd. There may be other places closer to the venue... but I'm not sure.

So.. here it is. I have a P.A. I have just about anything we need. Including an acoustic bass, acoustic/electric guitar, and a 16 channel mixer.

I'd love to get anyone else involved. If we don't get enough input... I'll just bring the karaoke rig... we have to be entertained somehow, right?

What type of music do you play. Kyle likes Thrash rock But also plays Jazz. I attended a concert at the music conservitory today. He jammed with two different groups of musicians. They played Bossanova stuff. It was very technical.

Do you have a play list? He can get the sheet music and bone up for the jam. I have a truck so we can haul out what ever he needs. He uses a double bass peddle setup when he drums. Makes for a full sound.

We don't have anything yet. I need to get the ball rolling. Let me talk to Howard and see how he would like us to approach it, and then I'll let you know. I'll probably start a thread in the WCC post area.

I will help provide equipment if needed. I have a Crate PA, Fender Twin Reverb and a Marshall Stack. Fender Strat, Gibson Les Paul and an Ovation 12 string. Equipment only, I have not played in a band for 20 years... aktion035.gif

No. It immediatly died after I offered to play the drums. huh.gif

Possibly! I think the thought of a female drummer scared everyone off. Or maybe it was the fact that I can play everything from classical to thrash metal. idea.gif Anyway, so your son should have a great chance! biggrin.gif

There is a local band spotlight on the local radio station here in Riverslide. Although its not close to where the WCC will be held, I will still look into it for ya. rock_band.gif

I've heard from SLITS that Aaron plays a pretty mean skin flute! biggrin.gif

Sorry, I couldn't help it! No offence intended towards anybody!
