Need a bit of help... wacko.gif

I've been Mark's Aircooled for years, we are now building our e-store and I think we need a new (more professional, .com) name.

Most likely to make it work I'll have to become a parts whore. I'll still do the aircooled machine, but I'll have to hire someone and just aircooled VW and Porsche parts won't bring in enough coin (in Canada) to make it work.

Mark's aircooled doesn't cut it, if you want a job selling import parts.

We need something generic, was thinking about German Forign...but see I can't even spell forighn right...we miss 1/2 our customer base...foreign.

Think of something VW/ Porsche (but I may have to go all import parts) that is catchy in a .com name

Funny, I thought about deutschespeed.com (sounds cool!)but it's a bit hard to google...I want something simple.

I'll start off with what I know, VW/Porsche, but I'll most likely end up with something like this site.

Hi Mark
I really wish you luck...
Keep overhead low...
I am looking at all kinds of new adventures, got to be really sure there is a market, apart from a well known buggie guy here, I know there is no aircooled action to speak of, at least not to anough sales to run a shop with overhead. E commerce I think is a good way to go. All machinest are dried up. I deal with the last standing survivor that does VW in the off season - summer, he is a snow plow machinest (seals, shafts, pivots), tells me more money involved. He worked at the last VW machine shop and when it closed he opened this place. I know he does really well just with the VW stuff. When I sent him a waterboxer in spring I was # 15 on the list - 3 months
I have 1200 square feet of Idustrial zoned space that I don't know what to do with.
Sorry if my reply bounces back and forth but 10 years of self-employment will do that to you. screwy.gif
Help if I could

Thanks Joe

Overhead is not a big deal, I own my shop outright and as far as aircooled VW and some Porsche stuff I already have at least $20,000 of stock.

My web guy is a friend who needs a job and will work straight commision on parts sales. He will totally manage the web/sales end...I just have to watch the bottom line and do the VW/Porsche end.

"deutschespeed.com" is open....

Mark, don't forget to put some target-time into your logo...product ID is important in the long haul. I'm sure there are some good graphic artisists that lurk here (Sean !).
You may want to stay away from overhyping the VW Porsche deal in your co. name. They have corp. trademark lawyers that watch for this, and after spending your hard earned print $$, they offer you a "Royalty" ($10,000.00 yr. up) to use their name, or cease & desist notice

Yep, I know not to put VW or Porsche into a logo. A local guy had "Harmony Road Porsche", he got in big do-do...Now he's just Harmony Road.

I think Jake got a letter for his logo...it was like a Porsche crest. I also know to put in a disclaimer, yada-yada...

Logo and name reconition is very important, so if I'm going to go .com I don't think "Mark's Aircooled" is very pro looking.
I can always put in a key word so guys looking for Mark's Aircooled can find me.

Well, I am looking for a name too, but a name to market a very effective cleaning goo, that takes off crap, and leaves the very fine surface of the expensive crap you clean with it alone.

It even tastes good!

You could just be Mark's Aircooled Dot Com.. smile.gif
