Well the 2.0 is finally going back in after fixing the hell-hole but I have so many bolts that broke along the way and need replacing. I was wondering where the best place to buy specific/hard-to-find bolts is. AutoAtlanta has everything but just wondering about other (possibly less expensive) options. I purchase a lot of things from Pelican as well but was wondering if there is a vendor list somewhere with a description of what is available where.

Most of the fasteners are simple metric nuts and bolts. You could do worse than to go to a metric supply store (there are specialists in my area) or even to a Caterpillar dealer, and just get a bunch of nuts and bolts.

M6 and M8 are the two most common sizes. You can get a variety of lengths and just pick the right one for the job you need. M8.8 hardness is good for most of the fasteners (with some exceptions!), and it's nice to get DIN-spec fasteners so that you can keep using the 13mm wrenches on the M8 bolts, for instance. (JIS-spec uses 12mm for M8 fasteners.)

They're often rather inexpensive by the box of 100. And you'll have spares on hand, which can be very nice down the road.

Thanks for the info! We have Fastenal here but I havent had much experience with them. I may hit them up for some pricing.

I get a lot of general metric nuts & bolts from my local ACE hardware store. They have open bins and you can buy one nut or bolt if you only need one.

On another note, are all bolts M (X) - 1.0 or M (X) - 1.25?

I have had a hard time figuring out the thread type and I dont see them listed on the exploded diagrams.

The most common sizes are M6x1.0 (this one has a 10mm head), M8x1.25 (has a 13mm head), and M10x1.5 (17mm head usually, but sometimes 15mm).

Get yourself a cheap Metric tap and die set. Great for cleaning out rusty threads and it comes with a thread gauge.


And get yourself a digital caliper.


Then you can measure most any fastener to see what it is.

Alternatively, just get one each of the bolts listed above in long lengths. Then mark them to keep track, and use them as testers. Try each one in the hole you're trying to use and see what fits.

The PET tells you how long each bolt should be.
