Oil in it and turns around just fine! Have been stored dry...

Please, help me with more fact about W-engines!

I don´t have a clue about the price, so we start with $1000 OBO...

The engine is in Sweden and cost for the shipment is not included in the bids!

That looks like a replacement case (as in never sold with a car) since the W-code engines have the number near the flywheel and because the stamping doesn't match the others I've seen.

But those cases can be in great shape because of that history. Great start for any size engine, 2056, 2270, or maybe just a spirited little 1911.

Seems like the euro VW guys have been using those for years, you may have luck selling with them.
