I am rebuilding my old Orange Koni Adjustable front Shocks, 5 Lug System for 914-6GT Project, New Rotors, New Calipers Etc..
My question is where can I find the tool that holds the top screw in place, as it has a key way and spins with the nut. Or what is a good procedure for getting the nut loose as the current nut is on tight enough that I cannot get it off to access the rest of the shock.

This should have worked.....but.

I did grab the top of the other shock which has the big top washer with a slot to hold the shaft which would alleviate this question, I put it over the nut but it is stuck. The washer on the shock is spinning and does not have the slot to hold the middle shaft in place, which is the problem?

Any ideas Impact wrench, I do not own one but would that spin it quick enough?

Worse case would be to grab the shaft from the wheel well side, use some soft material like aluminum or brass sheet and hold the shaft with some vice grips...ABOVE the section that would go into the body and thru the seal!

The large washer has a key way that locks into the key way. I use an impact on the nut while still on the car and never had a problem removing them.
Or if off the car put the washer on the shock and clamp it in a vice and use the impact on the nut

Impact gun.... either electric or pneumatic.... in the car or out

I have only ever been able to really get it to work with an impact.

Impact Gun it was but what a monster, the threads were all hosed.

Now the real fun getting the KONI NUT off at the top of the strut.
I used the search tool and found that a big channel pliers or Plumbers Wrench will work best.

Anyone have any great ideas on how to get that baby to loosen up?
