A guy a few miles north from here offers a full set Kronprinz wheels + 185/65 15 tires for sale on a local auction site. Buy it now price? Next to nothing. I have no purpose for the tires, I can try to sell them on.

Anyway, it's a VW Beetle wheel, ET34, 5.5J. I will put my own 165/80 15 tires on. So, it will fit - I think. But what about the lug bolts? Do I need special bolts for these steel Kronprinz wheels? Any ideas?

914 is ET40, so you may be tight on the rear fenders with anything bigger than 155 or 165R15.

I personally like your wheels on there better than these, but it's your car & your preference that counts! biggrin.gif

Have you looked for a nice set of used either of the 4-lug alloys available on your 73 2L - they had Pedrini & Mahle "Baby Gas Burner" painted cast alloys, & the Fuchs 2L anodized aluminum forged alloys?

You could restore them yourself - painted or polished or anodized as to your tastes.

Otherwise I'd suggest looking for Minilight 8-spokes or their clones, or other alloys with proper ET40 offset, because you don't want to be rolling rear fenders on an all original 914 like yours.

Then's my 2 pfennigs! biggrin.gif

wheels that won't accommodate larger tires due to body clearance issues might be the wrong path down the 'road'.
