My car normally takes two turns of the key to start. It hardly ever makes contact on the first turn (of the key) but I hear the fuel pump. I was starting this way until recently, it's gotten worse, and now it won't start at all. Battery is good, system seems okay. I think it is the switch, it's about a year old. I can bump/push start the car easily, but I need to fix this. How hard, and what is the R & R procedure for the switch? Also, can I source this switch easily at my FLAPS?

Thanks headbang.gif

Typical shitty ignition switch electrics. Do you have a relay on your starter? It will help it last longer.

Switches are NOT a FLAPS item in most cases. You will have to go VW sites or Pelican. Seems like there aren't any German ones any more. I THINK I saw some made by Dansk so the are NOT made in China.

I'm gonna dig into it tomorrow, i read the thread on the PP site.

Seems pretty easy, I've already done both of the switches behind the steering wheel.

Grrr….

I did it recently by using the PP article. The hardest part for me was removing the steering wheel but after I got that pulled it went pretty quick.
I may have a spare and will PM you if I do.
I am just down the road from you.
