A friend of mine has, hidden in his stuff, the stock "butterfly" steering wheel that came on his 912E. He hates it, it's never been used and I think it will be free for me.

Will it easily fit on my 1972 914? Or are they different in some way?

Thanks

Sean

912E steering wheel pad. I should fit.

Get the wheel.

I think the splines on the steering shaft may be different. I'm pretty sure they're different between the 911 and the 914...

The cup on the rear of the wheel may have to be changed out for the earlier style. No biggie.

Only on later 911 wheels. I think the cut off is around 1972. Early 911 and 914 splines are the same.

It will probably be 400mm in diameter. Lots of 911s were changed to the 380mm diameter wheel in the 914. You then have the 911RS wheel in your 911. Feels better than the bigger wheel.

...agree with Dave, I am looking for a hub and think the spline is different than '76
mrholland2
I think I'm more confused.

easy way to determine is any Momo steering wheel sales.
Hubs for steering shaft. 914 vs '76 912e and like Dave said
they most likely are different and won't accept free 912e
wheel. I think the 912e is like "L213"...tho' check
