Full Version: Subwoofer in passenger footwell

My little audio upgrade project has evolved. I now want to install an 8" sub in the passenger footwell using one of the fiberglass boxes that replace the foam block.
The challenge is that I want the sub to be flush or just below the front surface because I want the carpet to cover it. I don't want it to be seen and I don't want a bulge. I'd like to protect the speaker with flat mesh screen, then place the carpet on top.

I've never seen one of the boxes, made by Morph, so it's hard to visualize what my options are.

Has anyone done this? What brand of sub did you use?

Thanks for your help.

Mine came from 914rubber (Morph) and I have a Kenwood 8". Sorry my car is at paint so I can't show you in the car.

Speaker mounts to the outside. You will have to add a layer of MDF or foam sheet or whatever to get the flush look and a mounting surface for the grill.

I did this years ago.

I glassed the back then used a board for the front and glassed and screwed the board into the back fiberglass. If you look close you can see both boards. One is under glass and one hold the carpet and makes the speaker flush. I have a floor mat that goes over the whole thing so you never see it.

This forum never disappoints!
Add thickness to the front! I should have thought of that headbang.gif
The console mount is also a nice idea but I searched for a long time for a perfect console and I'd like to leave it in place.
Thanks for the help!
