I just went back to original 4-lug Porsche Fuchs for our 1974 914 2.0.

The Rivieras that have been on the car since the late 70's. The car only has 44k orig. miles. About 20k miles were on the Rivieras. They are in very good shape and come with the centercaps (no tires). The wheels were spun and are all straight. The Rivieras come with the original lug bolts which are 19mm and about a 22mm thread length.

I also have a set of date stamped 71/72 914 Pedrinis. I bought these with the hope of putting them on our '74 but alas, they won't fit and I didn't want to modify them. They are in decent shape. There is some curb rash on them, but nothing major and our wheel specialist said they could be fixed. We had all three spun at our tire service and 3 were straight and one had a bit of a wobble. We put the wobbly one on the rear of the car and you couldn't notice anything. The Pedrinis come with a brand new set of lug bolts that are 17mm with a 38mm thread length. They were the perfect length for our car.

Rivieras = $300 for set including all original lug bolts

Pedrinis = $550 for set including all original lug bolts (center caps not included)

*Shipping is not included: I will ship worldwide. I will drop off to UPS to have them professionally packaged, insured, and shipped. Whatever that cost is will be for the buyer to pay. I'm guessing it is around $100 to ship a set across the country.

Wheels are located in Costa Mesa, CA (Orange County) 92627

Feel free to call me if you have any questions. (Paul) 714-335-4911 or me@paulkramer.com

Thanks.

The tires on the Riv's are shot - wouldn't drive more than 25mph with those sad.gif

Good choice putting the 2L Fuchs on the 74 Paul.

You should bring it out to one of the OCR breakfasts, burger bahn or Krispy Kreme events, as it may garner some interest from members looking for a nice one like this!

For those looking at these wheels:

the Rivieras are the later American repops (note the rim edge lip - original Rivs are smooth), & appear to be the later -00 type if they all come with the hub-centric inset in that one pic, so they will fit all 70-76 MYs.

The Pedrinis are the p/n -00 non-hub-centric for 70-72 MYs - or can be machined for the inset to fit later 73-76. IIRC Al Reed in Anaheim can have that machined, as well as any desired resto work on them, or Weideman Wheels in Oroville CA.

Seem like fair prices, given good condition & since they include lugs @ both & center caps @ Rivs.

Good Luck! beerchug.gif

LOL...I know, they are scary...from late 70's...they were installed when the Riverias were bought new. I already have the Fuchs on a new set of the Classic tires from TireRack.

The 1980 Klebers on my Rivs still on my 914 in its resto-roller state look better!

Paul - which brand, type & size tires did you end up getting from the rack?

Last I looked they had nothing in 165HR15 (/80) ... nor in SR or TR either.

PS - if you're still selling this car, you might want to cross link it's ad here, & this ad on the car FS one - just to get more coverage!

TIA,
Tom

Thanks Tom...believe it or not, this one isn't for sale...I'm keeping it. I just love these cars and think they've been under-valued for a long time. I'm afraid the next time I want one, I won't be able to afford it :0

This one has a great story...a gal in North Dakota got it as a college present from her dad. Her dad drove her in June of 1974 to the only local Porsche dealer (300 miles away) in Fargo. She picked it out and drove it home. We even have her original sales order. She married her husband in 1977 and they drove it on their honeymoon (see pic below). Shortly after that, he couldn't stand the stock VW style wheels so he bought the Rivieras from a dealer in Garden Grove (tires and all...see pic when he just installed them) and had them shipped to ND. The car had a ritual of spending only a few months on the road in the summer and then it would have the wheels removed, fluids drained, battery removed, covered, and stored most of fall, winter, and spring. They would then get it back on the road...drive it to the nearest qualified mechanic (over 100-miles away). Have the car serviced, etc. This program ensued for nearly 40-years. Their son drove the car to his prom in the late 90's (see pic). They shipped the car to me to sell for them and I simply fell in love with it. I plan to drive it to Rennsport Reunion this year and if it does well, maybe even take it on the Targa Baja...stay tuned...I'm sure I'll be making videos etc...

Hi Tom,

I got these tires from TireRack. They seem to be the right size/look and quality ride:

There's a great story behind this car folks, on Paul's AutoKennel website, as the pix show!

The Fuchs 2L alloys are still a better choice over Pedrini or Mahle as an upgrade from the original "Mag Look" Steel Sport wheels on it in those pix. But we all loved the 5 spoke Mag look of the Rivieras back in the 70's, as my avatar pic attests! biggrin.gif

I just sent this ad link to my formerly SoCal buddy Jerry S. - now in VA, with a 1 owner 61K +/- mile 71 914/4, who still has the Western wheels the dealer put on it when fitted out for another buyer who backed out, so Jer got a great pkg deal for his insurance money from his 57 Chevy Belair wreck in 70/71. The Westerns have the wrong offset & put the rear wheels/tires too far out to the fenders with minimal 1/4" clearance on 155s & 165s - so he's been thinking of changing his wheels & likes the 71 MY period correct Pedrini look.

He may contact you.

Cheers! beerchug.gif

Great price for a driver tire too!

DD & "weekender" original size tire guys should love those, since they're T speed rated to 118 mph, whereas the 1.7/1.8 spec'd 155/165 SR (115mph) & 2.0s were HR to 130mph - but factory spec top speed was 118 mph (a bit more into the 120s in reality), ergo the HR original factory spec, since T wasn't around back then.

They used to carry a very nice & grippy Bridgestone in that 165/80TR15 a few years ago, which could also pass for period correctness wherever originality was judged - sorta! Many of the 914 & 912 guys used them.

Sure beats $100+ for Vredestein 165HR15 & $200+ for Michi 165SR15 XZX & 165HR15 XAS or the 70s-80s fav upgrade to Michi XWX 185VR15 for $400+ each!! blink.gif

Thanx!

Thanks Tom....much appreciated. BTW, her name is "Kermit the Hermit" For obvious reasons of annual hibernating in the middle of no where. BTW, I'm also looking for an original license plate frame of the original selling dealership. It was Allen Autohaus Porsche/Audi of Fargo, ND...if anyone knows of one available.

Stay tuned, I will be producing a fun video of her shortly in the coming weeks...
Tom_T
Try an ad in the Fargo CL & a google search for the license plate & frame sellers online, who often carry both.

That's how I found the NOS 1956 CA plate & a nice used 1960 sticker for it for our vintage 1960 Avion Trailer, but didn't get a dealer frame since I don't know where it was sold new.

My old 1973 "It Takes Leather Balls to Play Rugby" frames will go back on my 73 2L when the resot is done, so I also didn't look for the dealership frames for it.

I may make it to your shindig this Sat am!

You should post your invite to it in the Garage Forum, in case some folks want to come down to Costa Mesa!

Best!

Thanks...all great suggestions Tom. Yes, I will post for this Sat. I did do google, ebay etc. for the frame with no luck (as well as looking at some swap meets). I like the craigslist post...I will try that.

I still have a couple sets of Michelin XZX tires on 5-lug steel wheels. They only reason I keep them is for show purposes. They're from the 70's as well.

Are you driving your car up to the GR&B Swap meet next Sunday? - would love to see it in person popcorn[1].gif

Mark, Paul has a gathering at AutoKennel on Sat am 9-11 & C&C at Enderle Center Tustin before that is 10 mins away - if you can stand to leave LA for "the provinces" 2 days in a row! biggrin.gif

Your car looks so much more sophisticated with the Fuchs (than the Rivs) thumb3d.gif

Is that your 1600 in garage background pic?

Thanks...I agree. I never liked the Rivieras.

Yes, that is my 1600 which (fingers crossed) will be done by the end of the year (10-year restoration). We have purchased 4 different BMWs just to finish one. It is a 1965/66 1600...one of the earliest imported to the U.S. This is the equivelant of a '64 911...very rare and all the trim pieces and little bits are really hard to find. I think we have everything...just need to reassemble. My friend is doing it as I'm a knuckle head when it comes to using wrenches....here's a pic of its current status:

euro911
Very nice. I almost bought a 1600 last year. My wife said I needed another car project like I needed another hole in my head dry.gif

BTW, I'm very familiar with '64 911s cool_shades.gif
