I have a 914 with 327 Chevy. See my ad here. 10k won't buy much of a car. If I parted out mine, the engine, wheels, and tranny are $15k.
If you are happy with a 901, you will save a few thousand.

You are correct 10K isnt buying much these days
10-15K will buy you a solid SBC conversion these days.
It's the LS conversions with a Boxster trans that get into the mid 20's.
