ONLY came in black from Porsche. I understand Porsche has a new batch of them in. Check with dealer.

Hmm, my 73 1.7 came with silver when I bought it brand new. You mean the dealer swapped them?

How did they show up on a black car? I have a black car, this is why I need the silver

I just sold a silver one from a '73.

Early cars came in gold 70-72. When the 73 came along, the emblems went to black. In 74 the emblems were black plastic through end of 75. 76 cars had decals instead of emblems. Check Dr Johnson book, Restorers Guide to 914

I must reiterate Mark. Why is mine silver? Is it not possible that Dr Johnson was wrong?

A good discussion of the badges here:
http://www.p914.com/p914_badges_emblem.htmNo mention of any chrome ones. Interesting, I wonder why some people seem to have chrome ones? Or, is it just that the anodizing was polished off or faded?

Looks like the paint was stripped and polished on fine wire wheel.

^^^ That looks like a faded anodized version.
